Button Templates for Silhouette Cameo

Design pin-back buttons online, print the PDF, and let your Silhouette cut perfect circles. Precise, fast, and no manual cutting.

Why Silhouette Owners Love ButtonMaker

Your Silhouette is a precision circle cutter. ButtonMaker gives it the right templates to cut.

Silhouette Cameo and Portrait machines are popular in the crafting world, and for good reason: they cut with precision that manual tools cannot match. If you are making pin-back buttons, that precision means perfectly round cuts every time, with consistent bleed edges for clean assembly.

The challenge has always been the template side. Sizing the design correctly, calculating bleed so the image wraps around the button edge, and laying out a full page to minimize waste. ButtonMaker does all of that automatically. You focus on the design, we handle the math.

The workflow is simple: design your button in ButtonMaker, download the PDF, print it, then use Silhouette Studio to cut circles at the diameter shown. No importing SVGs, no fiddling with registration marks on simple circle cuts. Print, cut, press, done.

Compatible Silhouette Machines

  • Silhouette Cameo 4 and Cameo 5 — 12-inch cutting width handles full 8.5x11 page layouts. The best option for batch button cutting.
  • Silhouette Cameo Plus and Pro — wider format for larger layouts if you want to print on bigger sheets.
  • Silhouette Portrait 3 — 8-inch cutting width. Works well for smaller batches and standard letter-size paper in portrait orientation.

For cut settings, start with "Cardstock, Plain" at blade depth 3 and speed 5. Always run a test cut on a corner of your printed sheet before cutting the full page. Adjust blade depth up if the cut is not going all the way through.

The Silhouette Cameo 4, Cameo 5, and Portrait 3 all cut button templates cleanly. Any Silhouette machine that handles 8.5x11 paper will work. The Cameo series is preferred for full-page button layouts because of its 12-inch cutting width.

For standard printer paper, use the Copy Paper or Cardstock Light setting with blade depth 2-3 and speed 5-8. For heavier cardstock, use Cardstock Heavy with blade depth 3-4. Always do a test cut first with one circle before cutting the full page.

ButtonMaker PDFs are designed for a print-then-cut workflow. Print the PDF first on your home printer, then set up circles at the correct cut diameter in Silhouette Studio. Use the registration marks or manual alignment to position your cuts over the printed designs. The cut lines in the ButtonMaker PDF show you exactly where each circle needs to be.
